Longtime community board member David Cartwright has announced his candidacy for the Fendalton Ward seat on Christchurch City Council in the upcoming local body elections.
Cartwright, who has served five terms on the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board, said he is ready to bring his experience and independent voice to the council table, with a focus on practical outcomes and financial responsibility.
David, has a background in hospitality and healthcare management, is also a Trustee for the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service; former board member for Keep New Zealand Beautiful and New Zealand Institute of Directors.
“I’m proud to officially announce my candidacy for Christchurch City Council in the Fendalton Ward,” he said in a video posted to social media.
Cartwright is backed by outgoing Fendalton Councillor James Gough and current community board member Bridget Williams.
His campaign priorities include reining in rates rises, addressing traffic congestion, removing unnecessary speed bumps, and improving the state of local roads.
“I’ll bring experience, independence, and a strong voice for financial responsibility,” he said.
Cartwright said he has deep roots in the local community and is committed to delivering results that reflect the needs and expectations of residents.
“I’d be honoured to have your support,” he said.
