Comedian Dai Henwood has cancelled the remainder of his nationwide tour due to complications with his ongoing cancer treatment.
In a heartfelt message shared by his team at Notorious*, Henwood said, “I’m gutted to be cancelling these shows. We really thought things were going to be okay, but cancer sucks.”
Dai Henwood publicly revealed in January 2023 that he had been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2020.
He shared the news during an interview on The Project, explaining that he had kept the diagnosis private for two years while continuing to work in television.
Henwood said at the time that the cancer was incurable but manageable, and he was undergoing ongoing treatment.
The cancelations follows recent changes to Henwood’s treatment and the emergence of new health challenges.
As a result, all remaining shows in his New Zealand tour, including rescheduled performances in New Plymouth and Invercargill, will no longer go ahead.
“It is with a deep sadness that we make the decision,” the team said in a joint statement. “However, it wasn’t difficult as we will always prioritise Dai’s health.”
Henwood remains committed to bringing laughter to audiences across the country and said his focus now is on getting well enough to continue doing what he loves.
“If you have tickets, the ticketing agent will be in touch to arrange your refund,” the statement said. “Stay safe, and thank you for all the support, it’s really appreciated.”
Henwood, who publicly shared his cancer diagnosis last year, has been open about his journey and continues to receive strong support from fans across New Zealand.
