Emergency services have been called to a serious crash involving a car and a cyclist at the intersection of Colombo and King Streets in Sydenham about 12.40pm.

Police said initial reports indicated the cyclist had sustained serious injuries.

The road had been closed, and diversions were in place while emergency services responded.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
