One person has been seriously injured after their car rolled on the Christchurch-Akaroa Road this evening.

The accident happened just before 10pm.

A police spokeswoman says emergency services remains at the scene of the serious crash at the intersection of State Highway 75 and Graylees Road.

She says a car has rolled and one person has serious injuries.

The police spokeswoman says one lane is open and the Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

She says the road may become closed when Serious Crash Unit arrive to examine the scene.

Motorists are advised the avoid the area or expect delays as there are no detours.
