Christchurch’s property market has reached a new milestone, with the city recording its highest average asking price on record.
According to the latest Trade Me Property Pulse Report, the average asking price for Christchurch properties climbed to $749,000 in February.
The popular three to four-bedroom category also hit a record high of $822,800 during the month, reflecting continued demand for family-sized homes in the city.
Nationally, the average asking price rose to $883,800 in February, marking a 3.1 per cent increase from January and a 1.7 per cent lift compared with the same time last year.
The figure represents the highest national average asking price since early 2024.
Trade Me Property Customer Director Gavin Lloyd said the start of the year had brought renewed activity across much of the country, with most regions seeing price increases both month-on-month and year-on-year.
“It’s not just one or two regions of the 15 we monitor, but the majority that are seeing increases both when compared to the same period last year, and month-on-month. The South Island in particular is looking solid across the board,” Lloyd said.
