Fire and Emergency crews have been kept busy across Christchurch responding to a number of weather related incidents.
MetService had forecast strong northwest winds for the day, with gusts near severe gale in exposed areas.
Crews were called to Woodham Road just before midday after a large tree branch broke off, blocking the eastbound lane.

Earlier, firefighters attended an incident on Rutherford Street in Woolston after roofing iron became loose.
This morning, emergency services were also called to the Inland Road near Kaikoura after a car became stranded between two large trees.
Environment Canterbury said heavy rain had fallen overnight in the headwaters of the major Canterbury alpine rivers, including the Waiau Uwha, Hurunui, Waimakariri, Rakaia, Rangitata, and Waitaki rivers.
The rain has now eased from the south and is expected to ease in the Waiau Uwha and Hurunui catchments this morning.
Flows have risen in the upper catchments overnight and will move through the lower parts of the rivers throughout the day.
The council said it will continue to monitor forecasts, rainfall, river flows, and flood protection infrastructure as the weather system moves through the region.
