A Christchurch barber shop has made an unusual offer to a thief.

Benny’s Barber Shop owner Ben Scott is offering a hug and 200 dollars if the thief he’s calling “Mr Joker” returns stolen goods.

But there’s a catch, the thief has until four this afternoon to contact Ben or he goes to police.

The man stole the contents of a till, a TV, Playstation 4 and Scott’s prized Honda CT110 motorbike last night.

On Benny’s Barber’s Facebook page, Ben Scott says “why and what’s going on in your life that you have to do this to get by! So what I’m going to do if you can share this for me.”

“If this joker sees this on here and has the balls to bring our stuff back and tell me what’s going on I’ll will give him $200 and a big ass hug to say mate come on we are all out here trying to get ahead.”

“Soo Mr joker I’ll be waiting you can flick me a call, I’ll give you till 4pm Monday 22nd June to get in touch before I get the police involved and just a heads up my cameras go real gooooooood so we have some good footage of your face xo”
