Christchurch Airport is set for a major boost in international connectivity this summer, with Singapore Airlines announcing 46 additional return services between Christchurch and Singapore from 24 November 2025 to 12 February 2026.

The expanded seasonal service will lift the number of weekly return flights to 11, including the airline’s year-round daily service and an increase from three to four seasonal flights per week. The move will add more than 23,000 extra seats across the peak travel period, driven by high demand from South Island travellers and international visitors.

Up to 5,500 seats will now be available each week on the Christchurch–Singapore route, which has served as a vital link between the South Island and global markets for nearly four decades. In addition to passenger capacity, the expansion includes 64 extra tonnes of outbound freight capacity, offering a significant benefit to the region’s exporters.

Christchurch Airport’s General Manager Aeronautical Development Gordon Bevan said the announcement reinforces the importance of the Singapore connection.

“This service has always punched well above its weight for Christchurch. It’s a lifeline for our exporters, a magnet for high-value visitors, and the go-to launch pad for Kiwis heading off to Asia or Europe. Adding more flights just takes it up a gear, more choice, more impact, and even more reasons to love what this route brings to our city and region,” he said.

Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson said the airline’s expanded commitment reflects a strong and enduring partnership.

“Our partnership with Singapore Airlines is one of the most enduring in New Zealand aviation. Their commitment to Christchurch reflects the strength of this route and the loyalty of South Island travellers who have trusted it for so many years. Together, we’ve built something special, and these extra flights are a sign of just how strong that connection remains,” he said.

The extra flights are part of a joint venture with Air New Zealand. Both airlines are members of the Star Alliance network.

Singapore Airlines’ enhanced schedule joins a broader resurgence in international air travel to Christchurch, with United Airlines, Cathay Pacific and China Southern also planning their return for the busy summer season. Flights with these carriers are already on sale.
