Christchurch police have arrested a 46-year-old man in relation to the death of 16 year old Connor Whitehead.
Police launched a homicide investigation after Connor was found dead at a house in the suburb of Casebrook late Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to the firearms incident at the property just after 11pm, but Connor was already dead.
Police say the man charged was “ assisting the people directly involved.”
“He was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.”
“This should serve as a warning to anyone who may be assisting those involved.”
The main suspect has not been arrested.
Officers continue to carry out a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident, including identifying and speaking to those in the area at the time.
