One person has been injured in a crash north of Christchurch.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch emergency services were called to the two-car crash on the Rangiora Woodend Road (at the Five Cross Roads) at 11:55am.

Witnesses reported seeing one of the cars on fire.

However, it’s understood occupants of both cars made it out before the fire.

A St John ambulance spokesman said one patient was taken to Christchurch hospital in a moderate condition.
