One of the South Island’s busiest supermarkets is closing its on site fuel service, with pumps at PAK’nSAVE Moorhouse Avenue set to be removed today.
Foodstuffs South Island Head of External Communications Stefan Herrick told chrislynchmedia.com the supermarket’s car park was under real pressure, especially during peak trading times.
He said the fuel site was nearly 15 years old and due for replacement.
“After weighing it up, we’ve decided to remove the fuel pumps and create around 40 extra car parks, that’ll be about a 10% increase. We’re also taking the opportunity to upgrade nearly the entire car park so it’s safer and easier to use,” Herrick said.
He said at this stage there were no plans to close fuel sites at other PAK’nSAVE stores in the South Island.
“We appreciate our customers bearing with us while we get the project done,” Herrick said.
