Police have recovered the body of a canoeist missing in a lake at Roto Kohatu Reserve.

The canoeist had been missing since capsizing yesterday evening at the lake in Harewood.

Police are working to support the family of the canoeist a spokesperson said.

The police spokesperson said “at this stage the family has requested that no identifying information regarding the canoeist is shared publicly and we ask that media respect their wishes.”
