Police have located a body in Lake Rua this afternoon, believed to be the man who went missing in the water last night.

Lake Rua and the surrounding area in Harewood remains closed to the public, a police spokesperson said.

Emergency services were first called at 6.50 PM last night. Chris Lynch Media understands the man was seen face down in the water.

A rescue helicopter responded to the scene along with Coastguard.

A formal identification process will take place, and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
