Police have located a body in the search for a missing woman in Christchurch.

Following extensive searches by Police and Land Search and Rescue volunteers, alongside information provided by the public, the woman was located deceased at a property on Gayhurst Road.

 While formal identification is yet to be completed, the body is believed to be that of 69-year-old local woman Adele, last seen on 15 June.

 Detective Sergeant Luke Vaughan says Police are providing her family with support during this difficult time.

 “This is not the outcome we were hoping for, however we are pleased her family have received some closure.

“We would like to thank everyone within the community for all their assistance, and the dedication of the search crews who have worked so hard over the past week.” 

As the death will be referred to the Coroner, Police are unable to comment further.
