A baby whose body was found on a Blenheim road last month was stillborn, a post-mortem examination has determined.

The infant was discovered on Wairau Bar Road on 19 May.

Police are still urgently trying to locate the baby’s family, and are concerned for the welfare of the mother.

Marlborough Area Commander Inspector Simon Feltham said “We would like to ensure she is safe and can receive any appropriate treatment or support.

“We would also like to discuss options with them around the baby’s remains.”
