Independent Citizens group has confirmed Ben Spittle as their candidate for the Waimairi Ward in the upcoming October 2025 local body elections.

Spittle, a long time Avonhead resident, lives locally with his family and runs his own business.

He is standing on a platform committed to providing high quality local services, ensuring the Council is responsive to community needs, and delivering value for ratepayers through practical and commonsense decision making.

“I am deeply committed to our community and focused on delivering practical outcomes that make a real difference,” Spittle said. “My priority is getting the fundamentals right, ensuring high quality services and putting people at the centre of decision making. I look forward to working hard to earn the privilege of serving Waimairi.”

He also said, “The Fendalton Waimairi Harewood Community Board has a strong reputation as a well functioning board that gets things done. I want to contribute to that continued success.”

Independent Citizens is a Christchurch based local government group that supports centre right candidates who campaign on responsible spending, transparent decision making, and strong community representation.
