Christchurch Police have carried out a targeted search for missing 79-year-old Elisabeth “Lis” Nicholls, whose last confirmed sighting was nearly two weeks ago.
Detective Sergeant Brent Menzies said Lis was last seen at the Chateau on the Park in Riccarton at 7.54pm on Wednesday 4 June.
“Today, Christchurch Police have conducted enquiries in the city area in the search for Elisabeth ‘Lis’ Nicholls,” he said.
Police Search and Rescue teams searched sections of the Avon River earlier today, assisted by Coastguard North Canterbury volunteers.
“In our search to bring Lis home, Police are searching all possible locations to locate Lis or any items that would lead us closer to her,” Menzies said.
Police said they held grave concerns for her welfare and again appealed to the public for information.
Those with CCTV are being asked to review footage from 6.40pm on Wednesday 4 June to 8am on Thursday 5 June.
“While Lis went missing in the Riccarton area, she is physically strong and may have walked some distance,” Menzies said.
Anyone who sees Lis is urged to call 111 immediately and quote file number 250604/5465. Non-urgent information can be reported online at 105.police.govt.nz using “Update Report” with the same file reference.
