A person has been taken to hospital after being assaulted in Christchurch tonight.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services received a call to an address on Bealey Ave at 7.45pm.

Police and St John ambulance responded.

One injured person was transported to hospital by Ambulance.

Police enquiries are ongoing.

Multiple police cars remain at the scene.
