A teenager has been arrested after a shop worker was stabbed during an aggravated robbery at a convenience store on Opawa Road.
Police said three offenders robbed the store about 6.40am on Tuesday.
During the incident, the store owner was stabbed with a sharp knife, causing serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The offenders fled in a vehicle, taking a till and other items.
Christchurch District Commander Superintendent Tony Hill said a 14 year old boy was arrested at an address in Woolston about 3.45pm.
He faces serious charges and is expected to appear in the Christchurch Youth Court tomorrow.
Hill said the attack on an innocent person was shocking and the arrest would bring some comfort to the community.
He said the investigation team had worked relentlessly to track down those involved.
He said their efforts led them to a property of interest where a search warrant was executed.
Hill said the work to find the remaining offenders would not stop.
Police said they had identified the vehicle used in the robbery. It is a silver Toyota MarkX with the registration number NRP221.
Police said anyone who had seen the vehicle in the Opawa area or surrounding suburbs should contact them through 105 using the reference number 251202 2804.
