One person remains unaccounted for in a fire near Christchurch airport.

Fire crews were called to the property on Conservators Rd at about 7.20pm on Monday night

Fire and emergency New Zealand southern shift manager Brent Dunn said the house was well ablaze when they arrived.

The rural property, which is down a long driveway, has been completely destroyed, according to Newstalk ZB reporter Amber Allott.

She said the entire interior is blackened.

Fire investigators arrived early this morning and police officers are on the scene cordoning off the driveway with police tape.

Four crews attended the blaze.
