Emergency services are responding to a gas main rupture in Ferrymead this morning.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said at 8.15am, a large gas main ruptured on Tidle View, near the Ferrymead Bridge.
Crews from the Christchurch central and Woolston fire stations are attending the scene.
People have been evacuated from nearby buildings along with businesses in the area.
Road closures are in place until further notice. Police are at the scene and assisting with traffic management.
