Police are responding to a serious two vehicle crash on State Highway 1, Wairuna, Clutha.

A police spokesperson said the crash was reported at around 6.45am.

Initial indications suggest one person has critical injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit are attending.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
