Armed police have responded to a serious incident at Olliviers Road in Phillipstown, where a witness reported seeing an injured man lying on the ground outside a property.

A neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said an argument involving what they believed were two men and a woman could be heard shortly before emergency services arrived.

The witness said arguments were frequently heard at the property, but this incident appeared more serious.

“It was only until we heard a woman say loudly ‘come quick, he’s bleeding out’ that we looked outside again.”

The neighbour said they saw a woman on the phone and a man lying motionless on his side further up the driveway.

Police arrived shortly afterwards, the witness said, and appeared to pursue a person who fled on foot towards Eastgate.

An ambulance arrived soon after, with emergency responders appearing to help the injured man to his feet before walking him into the ambulance.

The neighbour praised the emergency response.

“The response time from authorities was absolutely amazing, they were here in a matter of minutes.”

Senior Sergeant Kerry Joyce said police will have a visible presence following a reported assault.

“Police were called to an Olliviers Road address at about 5.40pm, where a person was located with injuries. The exact circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.

Cordons are in place and members of the public are asked to avoid the area.”

The witness also alleged the property had a history of drug activity and frequent domestic incidents.
