Christchurch’s Riverside Market turns seven this weekend, and is marking it with a circus themed programme of live music, children’s activities and roaming performers on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September.

There is a second birthday in it too. The Riverside Farmers Market turns one, and will run outside Riverside from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Entertainment starts at 10am on both days.

The Christchurch City Peace Train is there on Saturday and a petting zoo arrives on Sunday, with face painting, children’s activities and roaming performers across the weekend.

“Riverside has become much more than a place to eat and shop. It is a meeting place that brings locals and visitors together while showcasing some of the best food and produce that Canterbury has to offer,” Riverside general manager Jo Southen said. The weekend was a thank you to the city for seven years of support, Southen said.

“We would love the community to join us in celebrating these two special milestones.”
