Christchurch Police are appealing for help to find 43 year old Barry Andrews, as friends describe his disappearance as extremely concerning and completely out of character.

A police spokesperson said Barry was last seen about 11.30pm on Tuesday on Mountfort Street in Spreydon.

A friend of Barry told chrislynchmedia.com family members contacted friends on Wednesday evening to see whether anyone had heard from him.

“It is extremely concerning and worrying that he has literally just disappeared. His phone is off, bank account not accessed. It is absolutely not like him.”

The friend said everyone they knew who had been contacted had also heard nothing from him.

“Everyone is concerned, and would love for him to return home safe.”

Police said his disappearance was unusual, and both his family and police wanted to know he was safe.

Barry  is 185cm tall, of thin build, with blue eyes and ginger hair.

He was last seen wearing a black Bleach anime hoodie featuring a character on the back with orange Japanese writing, black pants and black DC shoes with red and white detailing.

Anyone who sees Barry is asked to call police immediately on 111 and quote reference number 260909/6025.

Information can also be provided to police through 105 using the same reference number.
