A Woolworths breakfast cereal sold across New Zealand has been recalled because it may contain pieces of blue plastic.

New Zealand Food Safety said Woolworths New Zealand Limited recalled its 500g Multi Grain Cereal on Tuesday.

The recall applies to boxes with a best before date of 30 April 2027.

The cereal was sold at Woolworths, FreshChoice and SuperValue supermarkets throughout New Zealand.

Consumers are being warned not to eat the affected product and to return it to the retailer for a full refund.

There have been no reports of injuries linked to the cereal.

Anyone who has eaten the product and is concerned about their health is being advised to seek medical advice.

The recall does not affect any other Woolworths branded products.

The cereal was also exported to the Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Malaysia, Niue and Samoa.
