Environment Canterbury is appealing for public help after 225 native plants were stolen from a restoration site beside the Eyre River in North Canterbury.
The regional council said the plants were part of an environmental restoration project designed to improve flood resilience and provide habitat for native wildlife.
In a Facebook post, Environment Canterbury expressed disappointment over the theft.
“When they’re taken, our environment and community miss out.”
The council is now asking residents and people visiting the area to remain vigilant.
