State Highway 8 through Lindis Pass has reopened following a serious two vehicle crash this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Omarama Lindis Pass Road, between Lindis Pass Tarras Road and Birchwood Road, about 7.40am.

Two people suffered critical injuries, while another suffered serious injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours between Tarras and Omarama.

Motorists are being advised to take extra care while travelling through the area.
