Two injured in two car crash in Christchurch

Two people have been injured in a two car crash in Christchurch this evening.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com the crash happened on Port Hills Road, between Chapmans Road and Vega Place, and was reported at 8pm.

The road has been closed after power lines were affected, and the power company has been advised.

A witness at the scene said one of the cars had brought down a power pole, which was lying across the road.

She said all occupants were out of both vehicles.

Fire and Emergency crews were also called to the scene.

NZTA said State Highway 76 was closed near the intersection with Chapmans Road.

Motorists have been asked to follow the directions of emergency services at the scene.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
