The Government bloc remains narrowly ahead in the latest Taxpayers’ Union-Curia Poll, with the Greens and ACT both gaining support.

The poll has Labour up 0.3 points to 32.2 percent, while National has risen 0.1 points to 30.1 percent.

The Greens recorded the largest movement, up 1.8 points to 11.5 percent, while ACT gained 1.3 points to reach 7.8 percent.

New Zealand First dropped 0.3 points to 11.4 percent, while Te Pāti Māori fell 1.0 point to 3.1 percent.

Among the minor parties, TOP is on 3.2 percent, Vision NZ is on 0.3 percent, NZ Outdoors and Freedom is on 0.3 percent, and the New Conservatives are on 0.2 percent.

On the projected seat numbers, National, ACT and New Zealand First would remain able to form a Government, with the bloc unchanged on 62 seats.

The opposition bloc of Labour, the Greens and Te Pāti Māori is also unchanged, on 58 seats.

Labour is projected to drop one seat to 40, while National drops one to 38. New Zealand First is down one seat to 14, the Greens gain two to 14, ACT gains two to 10, and Te Pāti Māori drops one to four.

The poll also shows several political leaders improving their net favourability ratings.

Christopher Luxon’s net favourability is up one point to -19 percent, while Chris Hipkins is up six points to -7 percent. Winston Peters is up two points to -5 percent, while David Seymour has risen 11 points to -18 percent.

Nicola Willis’ net favourability sits at -19 percent, while Barbara Edmonds is at -16 percent.

Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson Tory Relf said the poll showed the election contest remained close.

“Five months out from the election, this poll points to a contest that is still neck-and-neck,” Relf said.

“The Budget appears to have given Government leaders a modest lift, but not enough to break the political deadlock.

“Minor-party movement is doing the heavy lifting this month, with the Greens and ACT both gaining ground while the government and opposition blocs overall remain locked in place.”

The poll was conducted between Thursday 4 June and Monday 8 June 2026. It surveyed 1000 adult New Zealanders by phone and online, with a maximum margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent. The Taxpayers’ Union said 4.6 percent of respondents were undecided on the party vote question.
