Armed police and a dog unit have swarmed a Fitzgerald Avenue property in Christchurch this afternoon.
Multiple officers were called to the central city address just before 4pm.
Footage shows police yelling at a man to give himself up, while residents at the property could be seen and heard shouting back at officers.
A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com the area was cordoned off while officers carried out enquiries.
A man was seen being arrested and searched before being led away in a police car.
The police spokeswoman said the arrest was in relation to an intentional damage matter.
The incident happened at the same complex where a man was stabbed in February.
