A power outage has left more than 1000 properties without electricity in Kaiapoi, with crews working to restore supply.
Lines company MainPower reported the unplanned outage affected areas including Ohoka Road and Main North Road.
According to the latest update as of 1240PM said 1084 customers were without power after the outage began at 11:13am.

No customers had been restored at the time of the update, and there was no estimated time for power to be returned.
MainPower said “Staff are currently onsite investigating the outage cause and will undertake any repair works when safe to do so.”
“We are working to restore your supply as safely and quickly as possible.”
Residents have been asked to contact MainPower if they have any information that could assist crews.
