A Canterbury based healthcare provider has expanded its online service ahead of winter, adding new options for common seasonal illnesses.

WeCare has introduced cold, flu, sinus infection and sore throat consultations to its CareNow Online platform, giving patients another way to access treatment without visiting a clinic.

The service is part of a wider push to make healthcare more accessible, particularly for people wanting quick and simple treatment for minor conditions.

Managing Director Dr Brian Ko said “Access remains a major focus for us, particularly for acute conditions where people often want treatment quickly and simply. Adding Cold, Flu, Sinus Infection & Sore Throat to our CareNow menu gives people another affordable option to get care without needing to come into a clinic.”

The new winter illness option comes as demand for healthcare typically increases, with many people looking for practical ways to manage symptoms while staying at home.

Medical Director Dr John Ko said “When someone is unwell, being able to access treatment from home can make a real difference. For many people, it offers a practical alternative to coming into a clinic and sitting in a waiting room for a minor illness.”

WeCare said the service can also help reduce the spread of illness by limiting the need for people, including children, to leave home while sick.

CareNow Online already offers treatment for a range of conditions including urinary tract infections, acne, cold sores, hay fever, gastro symptoms, emergency contraception, chlamydia contact treatment and period delay treatment.

The company said some services, including its period delay option, have seen particularly strong uptake.

Patients can access care through an online assessment or video consultation, with lower fees available for those enrolled with WeCare.

Managing Director Dr Brian Ko said “Enrolling with WeCare means patients can access our wider ecosystem of care options, including lower fees for highly accessible services like CareNow Online.”

WeCare said it plans to continue expanding its online offering, with more conditions expected to be added over time as demand for virtual care grows.
