A Christchurch based beauty company has gone into liquidation owing an estimated $610,000 to creditors, with little chance of repayments.
Lashed Limited, which operated eyelash salons in Waltham, Hornby and Bishopdale, was placed into voluntary liquidation on 11 March 2026. Insolvency practitioner Brenton Hunt was appointed as liquidator.
The company, owned and directed by Miriam Talava Reihana, had been trading since 2017 and offered eyelash extensions along with training services.
The liquidator’s first report said the business struggled financially following Covid 19 lockdowns.
Efforts to reduce costs, including closing two locations and making staff redundant, were not enough to recover from mounting tax debt.
Inland Revenue had already begun recovery action before the decision was made to wind up the company.
At the time of liquidation, the company owed about $260000 in GST and PAYE to Inland Revenue, $10000 in staff wages and holiday pay, and around $350000 to unsecured creditors.
The report said the company’s bank account was overdrawn and only limited assets, including equipment valued at about $10000, were available to sell.
The liquidator said it was unlikely unsecured creditors would receive any money, with a significant shortfall expected.
Investigations are now underway into the company’s financial records, including whether any transactions before liquidation can be recovered and whether the director met legal obligations.
The liquidation process is expected to take about 12 months, although a final timeline has not yet been confirmed.
