Police are appealing for information after a reported assault at a Greymouth home over the weekend.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Lyford, West Coast Area Investigations Manager, said officers were called to an address on Reid Street in the suburb of Blaketown about 11.15pm on Saturday 21 February.

A man allegedly entered the property and assaulted one of the occupants before being confronted by another person inside the house and leaving the scene.

The victim suffered minor injuries but both occupants were left shaken by the incident.

Police have carried out initial enquiries, including reviewing available CCTV footage, but have so far been unable to identify the offender.

The man is described as being in his 40s, Caucasian, of medium build, with short dark hair.

He was reportedly wearing a black short-sleeved rugby-style top and long pants. His face appeared dirty, and he was described as disoriented and possibly under the influence.

Police are urging anyone who saw a person matching the description, or who noticed suspicious behaviour in the Reid Street area on Saturday night, to come forward.

Information can be provided online via 105 by selecting “update report” and quoting file number 260222/4632, or by calling 105.
