Three people have been injured including a child after a dog attack in Bryndwr.
A police spokesman said the incident, at a residential property on Bevin Place, was reported to police at about 2.45pm.
Emergency services located three people with injuries ranging from moderate to critical and they are being transported to hospital.
Two dogs at the property were restrained by animal control and will be taken from the scene, police said.
There is no ongoing risk to the public, and a scene examination will be carried out.
St John said they responded with three ambulances, two rapid response units and one manager.
“Our crews assessed and treated three patients; one in a critical condition, and one in a serious condition who were transported to Christchurch hospital, and a third patient in a minor condition who was treated at the scene.”
