A serious stabbing incident has drawn a major police response to Fitzgerald Avenue in Christchurch Central this afternoon.
Police have cordoned off part of a Fitzgerald Avenue block of flats, after reports of a “grievous assault” were received by emergency services at about 12 20 pm today.
At least ten police vehicles were at the scene.
A spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media officers are attending the scene and one person has been taken into custody while enquiries remain ongoing. One person is being treated for injuries.
A St John spokesperson said St John was notified of an assault incident.
One ambulance and one rapid response unit attended.
One patient in critical condition has been transported to Christchurch Hospital, the spokesperson said.
