A person has been killed and another seriously injured following a crash in Glenorchy early this morning.

Police said emergency services were called to the scene on Glenorchy Routeburn Road just after 4.41am after two vehicles collided.

One person died at the scene.

A police spokesperson said police staff, including the Serious Crash Unit, were at the scene investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The road remains partially blocked, with no available diversions. Police said the road would be opened intermittently when possible.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with those involved,” the spokesperson said.
