A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman has been found dead in Crichton Clutha last night.

Emergency services were called to a property on Adams Flat Road at around 6:10pm.

A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the incident.

Detective Sergeant Hayden Smale said a scene guard was in place at the address while police staff carried out a scene examination.

Smale said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident were ongoing.

He said there was not believed to be any risk to public safety and the wider community was not at risk.

Smale said residents in Crichton could expect to see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continued.
