There is a large armed police presence in New Brighton this afternoon.

A local resident said at least ten police cars were parked along Rookwood Avenue.

He said it appeared police were raiding a residential house.

Police officers were first spotted along the street just after 3PM.

Chrislynchmedia.com understands a person, with a warrant to arrest,  is refusing to come out of the house

A spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com it was a pre planned operation.

No further details were immediately available.

The road has not been blocked off.
