Ilam MP Dr Hamish Campbell has been reselected as the National Party’s candidate for the electorate at next year’s general election.

Dr Campbell said he was honoured to be given the opportunity to continue representing the community.

In Parliament, he currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Health Select Committee, and is a member of the Economic Development, Science and Innovation Committee.

“Being reselected is not something you take for granted, so I am delighted the Party backs me as the best person to represent Ilam in Parliament,” he said. “The Party appreciates a hardworking, active and engaged MP, and I know the local community does also.”

Dr Campbell said his focus remained the same as when he was first elected.

“My goal remains to be the best local MP in Ilam and in Parliament,” he said. “To represent the electorate effectively, it’s necessary to get out and meet the people, businesses, and groups that make up the Ilam electorate.”

He said he takes pride in being accessible to residents.

“I have a very accessible and busy electorate office, and I am always available for residents and groups from my electorate.”

Since the last election, the boundaries of the Ilam electorate have expanded slightly, increasing the area Dr Campbell represents.

“I am humbled by the support I have received and look forward to getting out campaigning next year,” he said. “The Government will continue to focus on the economy, housing, health, and education, and I will continue focussing on Ilam.”
