Christchurch police have charged a 43-year-old man following a serious assault at a property on Olliviers Road.

A police spokesperson said officers were called to the address about 6pm on Friday after an incident involving two people.

One person was taken to hospital in a serious condition, while another was taken into custody.

A scene guard remained in place overnight, and police carried out a scene examination yesterday.

The man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on 6 October.
