Christchurch youths in stolen car prompt aerial police response

Christchurch police have called in a commercial helicopter this evening to track youths in a stolen car driving dangerously across the city.

Chrislynchmedia.com understands the group had been causing chaos throughout Christchurch in what was believed to be a day-long crime spree.

The helicopter was deployed shortly before 7pm to assist ground units.

Flight data from Flight 24 showed the aircraft circling several parts of the city, including New Brighton and Waimairi Beach.

A police spokeswoman confirmed a helicopter was assisting police.

“Police are making enquiries after receiving multiple reports of a stolen vehicle being driven dangerously across Christchurch this evening,” she said.

No arrests have been made.
