Construction is about to begin on one of Rangiora’s most high-profile sites, with work set to transform the BNZ corner at High and Ashley Streets.
The land was purchased from the council in 2023 by Cornershop Investments, a group of local investors behind several successful Rangiora projects. The team includes Eileen and Murray Irvine, Bridget Hope and Gabe Rijpma, and Andrea and Jake Gardner.
For Murray and Eileen Irvine, who were involved in Good Street’s redevelopment, the new project is another chance to invest in their hometown.

“We’re excited to announce construction is starting soon, with the building ready and open by the end of 2026,” Murray Irvine said.
“Eileen and I are exceptionally proud of what we’ve already achieved in Rangiora, and we can’t wait to add even more vibrancy to the town centre.”
The BNZ corner sees thousands of vehicles pass daily, and Mayor Dan Gordon said the development will deliver the kind of presence the site deserves.
“This is a great outcome for a high-profile piece of land in the Rangiora Town Centre,” he said.
“Residents often tell us one of the things they love most about Waimakariri is the unique character of our townships. This project will strengthen Rangiora’s character, look and feel – and add to a stunning entrance to the CBD.”

The vision is for a striking two-storey development that blends with Rangiora’s existing charm while offering fresh retail and business spaces designed to draw more people into town.
Council Property Manager Rob Hawthorne said the project has strong backing.
“From Council’s perspective, this is going to bring exciting new retail and business opportunities right into the heart of Rangiora,” he said.
