Police are investigating two aggravated robberies in Christchurch.
Officers were first called to a premises on McGregors Road at around 11.40am, after three people entered the store armed with weapons, a police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com
It’s understood the offenders were carrying hammers.
The offenders left before police arrived.
Around ten minutes later, police responded to another aggravated robbery at a commercial premises on Stanmore Road.
A significant police presence was seen between Avalon Street and North Avon Road following the incident, and it is understood a dairy was targeted.
A police spokesperson said the offenders had also left the scene before officers arrived and it was not yet clear what had been taken.
A witness who lives nearby told Chris Lynch Media they saw a large number of officers near the Sideline Sports Bar and the dairy. “I just drove down there and saw heaps of police taking photos.”
Police said they are investigating both aggravated robberies and making enquiries to determine if they are connected.
