A body has been found by a member of the public in water at Spring Creek, north of Blenheim.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com officers were notified of the discovery just before 4pm in water off Wairau Bar Road.

A formal identification process is underway and may take some time, the spokeswoman said.

Enquiries are continuing and police are unable to provide further details at this stage.
