Christchurch police are investigating the death of a woman in Spreydon.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com emergency services were called to an address on Evesham Crescent about 3.40pm on Friday, after a woman was found unresponsive.

“She sadly died at the scene,” the spokeswoman said.

A neighbour said police and forensic teams were at the property for much of Friday night, and there was still a police presence on Saturday.

They said the tenant of the property, where the woman died, asked them to stay for support while police and forensics went through the house.

“He told me he went out and came back to find his partner unresponsive.”

The police spokeswoman said the cause of death has not yet been determined, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.
