Westpac New Zealand has announced it will close its Ferrymead branch next month, citing a continued shift towards online banking and the proximity of other branches.
The Ferrymead branch will officially close on Friday 8 August at 2pm.
In a message to customers, Regional Manager Leah McIvor said, “With more customers choosing to do their banking online, and with our branches at The Palms and Barrington just a 15-minute drive away, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Ferrymead branch.”
Customers who bank at Ferrymead will have their accounts automatically transferred to Westpac The Palms branch, located at 20‑22 Marshland Road, Shirley.
That branch is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm and Saturdays from 9.30am to 1pm.
Westpac Barrington, located at 256 Barrington Street, will also be available to customers and is open weekdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
McIvor assured customers that no changes will be made to account numbers, automatic payments, or direct debits.
“Customers can continue to manage their accounts through Westpac One digital banking or at any New Zealand bank ATM at no extra cost,” she said.
