Ōtautahi Crafters Winter Market returns to South City Shopping Centre

Jun 19, 2025 |

The Ōtautahi Crafters Winter Market is set to take over South City Shopping Centre on Saturday, July 12, promising a full day of creativity, community, and craft.

Now one of Christchurch’s most anticipated seasonal events, the market will bring together more than 130 local stallholders, offering everything from pottery and jewellery to handmade candles, art, cookies, and curated gifts.

Organiser CJ Tomlins said this year’s winter edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet. “This event is all about celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and community, and we’re pulling together some incredible talent to make it an experience to remember.”

Adding to the atmosphere will be seven live acoustic sets from Canterbury musicians, filling the space with original songs and crowd favourites throughout the day.

In a move to reward early visitors, the first 300 people through the door will receive a custom-printed tote bag packed with exclusive discount codes and offers from stallholders.

Sustainability will also take centre stage, with a dedicated section of 23 preloved stalls hosted in collaboration with Ōtautahi Preloved Markets.

The stalls will feature hand-picked vintage items, wardrobe clear-outs and high-end op shop gems, giving the market an eco-conscious edge.

One of the most anticipated elements is a major giveaway of a brand-new Cricut Explore 4, the latest release in Cricut’s cutting machine lineup.

We will host this on our social instagram and facebook @Otautahi_Crafters_market with additional entries for attending on the day.”

With its warm, vibrant atmosphere and a strong emphasis on local makers and meaningful connection, the Ōtautahi Crafters Winter Market is expected to draw crowds from across the city.

“It’s about more than just shopping,” said Tomlins. “It’s about supporting local, celebrating creativity, and creating a space that brings people together — even in the middle of winter.”
