A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash in Rolleston this morning.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to McCauley Street at around 7.50am following a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

One person received serious injuries and was transported to Christchurch Hospital.

A St John spokesperson said an ambulance and an operations manager attended the scene.

The road was blocked while emergency services responded, and motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
